PROBLEM STATEMENT

For online meetings on platforms such as ZOOM/MS Teams, it is hard to manage the meeting and addressing a specific group/person. This is especially so when it comes to educational purposes, where it is difficult for teachers/lecturers to gauge their students engagement or ability to follow the meeting.

DESIGNING FOR:

To introduce Spotlight engagement on communication platforms like Zoom/MS Teams.

To mitigate the hassle of poor communication of project development teams on Microsoft Teams by recommending 3D Spatial Audio workspaces like in Kumospace so that a centralised co-workspace can provide dynamic interactions based on proximity of participants.

This will also emulate/provide an environment similar to having a physical classroom/meeting room.

MARKET SOLUTIONS

Currently, we have Kumospace and horizon Workrooms as viable options to solve a part of our problem statement. However, in an effort to integrate that within the Microsoft Teams environment, we opted to take the best of both, and elevate it.

: USER PERSONAS

To create a suitable application, we should first understand our intended target audience. Ideally students and educators who use Microsoft Teams in high volumes, almost daily.

OUR SOLUTION

Based on our research, we came up with 4 key design considerations while developing our solution.

CATEGORIAL LOGIN

Key Design Considerations:

To reduce the multiple layers of navigation, we took reference from Youtube Kids and Netflix for Kids; enabling selective access by bringing the user into the main dashboard according to user type during login.

FOCUSED APP BASKET

Key Design Considerations:

We will present users with their recently/most used applications that are available on MS Teams ecosystem. Teachers will be able to verify apps with the Head of Department and plan for lessons within the same network.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOMS

(SPATIAL COLLABORATIVE WORKSPACE)

Key Design Considerations:

To introduce spotlight engagement on communication platforms like Zoom/MS Teams by providing dynamic interactions based on proximity of participants. This will also emulate an environment similar to having a physical classroom.

DIGITAL DIARY

(CALENDAR OVERVIEW FOR CHILDREN)

Key Design Considerations:

The Digital Diary integrates and replaces the calendar and helps with a centralised homework system for students and educators to follow up on tasks in a fun environment.

PROTOTYPES

RETROSPECTIVE

" It was a very rewarding journey overall as we learnt to break down insurmountable tasks into achievable segments and learnt to work efficiently as a team, really proud of what my team has achieved with the short timeline!"

"It was tough and challenging to do 2 different mock-ups for 2 different general audience. However, it was an extremely fruitful experience!"

"While the process is quite tedious, it helps us keep on track with the set goals and overall, does pay off in the end."

"Being from games development, this was an eye-opening experience as the process was different from what I was used to."
